9 September 2008 Dear fellow shippers, After a small break of 5 years it is good to see that this years players are keen to emulate the performances of the legends of days past by trying to win the premiership. Without the guidance of Sammy, Goldie, Averages, Hopey, Doyley (senior of couclrse), Junior, Burley and many others of that vintage (mainly me) the premiership has proved an elusive goal. I am sure that the attitude for success that first year coach Scott McCallum has drawn on from the legends will be a boost on the quest for glory. It is with regret that I will be unable to attend the game as my personal desire for a sun tan and eye exercising will have me on the Gold Coast during the big day. Upon my return I will be happy to regale stories of my silky smooth skills to the successful players. Good luck to all concerned. Crawf 22 July 2008 PORT V CROWS Fall out from the game. This is some of the best. Remeber, the game only happened yesterday. Just so you know how it is over there in SA in regards to their footy teams. Also, Glenelg (top of the ladder) lost to South Adelaide (bottom of the ladder) on the weekend, you'll understand after watching the attached movie. Cheers, Crawf http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Y35Lewh-LM 26 June 2008 I humbly apologise for my inablity to attend the past players and supporters function. My self importance and preservation needs have taken over. (Really it is my daughters birthday and I'm not allowed to come). In my stead I have engouraged some of the lesser lights from my vintage to attend. While the names may be unknown to most Averages, Junor and Sammy will be there. Please treat them wth respect as they will regale you with stories of the legend that is Scott Crawford. April 4 2008 For those who don’t know Goldie Geappen has been appointed senior runner for North Hobart this season. Obviously Matt his son as senior coach was looking for someone he could get to mumble the message. Goldie played a few seasons with the Ships after retiring from sniffing bottoms at Eastern Suburbs Rugby Club. He was attracted to the job because of his love of the Red & Blue Demons but as he has been informed the year has not started well and he looks like being the biggest loser in two states. In addition bets are now being taken on the following outcomes for Goldie’s running career. 1. Reported for abusing the umpire 2. Reported for a hit and run on an opposition player. 3. Reprimanded for abusing his own players 4. Dropped due to lack of speed in delivering messages to achieve 100 interchanges per game. Good to see the Ships have picked up young Doyley in the mid season draft under the father and son rule. Bumped into his old man the other day for the first time in a while, he was delivering flowers - can you believe it - some Ships do go soft in retirement. I'll bet he knocked off a bunch or two for the mrs to keep in the good books. Go Ships March 12 2008 In what could become a regular column (if Crawf continues to come up with his usual rubbish) please find below the response from Scott Crawford after receiving an invitation to attend the OSFA season launch luncheon with none other than the great Peter Daicos as guest Speaker. Hi Bruno Thanks for the info. As much as I would like to have a chat to Daicos and exchange a few stories about our compatible skill levels, speed across the ground, goal sneaking, big marks and playing in front of capacity crowds I am unable to attend on that day as it is a short week. Please pass on my sincere apologies to Pete but tell him he can pop around for a BBQ on Sunday after I have come back from Church. Regards Crawf The message regarding the BBQ was duly passed on with nothing but a look of bewilderment by Daicos as if to say who is this idiot called Crawf?
